Over the years of using different cameras I have found I prefer the cameras that don't have pro priority batteries and use standard AA or CRV-3 type batteries. I have also found that I favor CRV-3 over standard non rechargeable AA batteries. But I have realized that CRV-3 batteries as good as they are are expensive, and the new Low Discharge batteries which have come in to great favor in the photography world is the way to go. Most of these can be charged at least 1,000 times if properly cared for. That means a modern high tech charger which is capable of testing, discharging and conditioning these batteries. I knew that the initial outlay would be expensive, but I had to do it. I ordered a La Crosse BC-900 charger that has a LCD screen for each battery and hold 4 batteries. Each battery is a separate identity and can be charged at different rates. I also purchased 4 Ansmann 2100mph low discharge batteries and a set of 4 Kodak 2100mah low discharge batteries. These new batteries maintain 85% of their charge even after a year on the shelf, so I will always have a charged set waiting to install as needed.
